Alignment

The second step in the levelgrinding.com core process is Alignment. Effective alignment requires a bit of self awareness and may take some introspection to reveal Values and Intent. We may actually have to jump back to the Assessment stage with an internal focus to discover things about ourselves which we have never really thought about before.

In the Alignment step, we ask questions like “HOW can we make it work better?”

Essentially, Alignment defines the Solution.

We’ll need to utilize our Creativity, Design skills, and Modeling techniques to come up with possible solutions. Then we’ll need to use Assessment again, to scrutinize these possible solutions, and turn Alignment in on itself to weigh pros and cons of the possible solutions, judging them against values, goals, and intent.

Alignment may very well be the most difficult part of the process. Often, failure to achieve success in Engagement is caused by a failure to achieve success in Alignment. Successful completion of a misaligned goal, may ultimately do more harm than good.

While Alignment is just one of the 4 steps in the process, it also goes far beyond the process itself. Alignment must be utilized in a goal-oriented approach, but in order to achieve true effectiveness, we must take alignment into another dimension. We must integrate alignment into every facet of our being to become truly aligned individuals. Effective living is Aligned living.
