The Excellent Manager Goes Home
In my previous article
The Excellent Manager we began thinking about some qualities of an excellent manager. We talked a bit about a few standard business concepts like business practice expertise, and touched very breifly on a subcomponent of stakeholder value - understanding your stakeholders.
I want to expand a bit on the idea of stakeholder value, but in this article, we are not talking about your business stakeholders, but rather, the people who hold a stake or interest in your life or in you personally.
In recent years the business management state of the art has come to recognize the importance of a healthy work/life balance. More and more businesses are provisioning for their employees in ways that creatively seek to improve their lives outside and alongside work - such facilities as at-work daycares and fitness centres are very popular and becoming more common.
I want to extend this thinking further by applying some well-worn business principles to the bigger picture of your personal life; your values, mission, goals, and actions.
I'll break this out into three separate ideas, which I want you to think about for a while first, before you proceed to the rest of the article by clicking one of the links:
Who are your
Personal Stakeholders?
What is your
Personal Product Line?
What is your
Personal Strategic Posture?
